About

Joshua Kennington is an emerging multi-disciplinary artist from Toronto. He grew up and lives in the city of Toronto, Ontario. His practice primarily focuses on oil paintings and illustrations which explore a diverse array of social and cultural themes pertaining to the natural and built environment.

Inspired by dreams, the subconscious and his local environment, Kennington produces land and dreamscapes with an eye for detail and style influenced by impressionist and encaustic painting techniques, giving his works a heightened sense of depth and luminance.

A background in still photography has informed his expression of land, infrastructure and atmosphere, with the tradition of storytelling through still life playing an pivotal role in his practice.

Kennington has previously collaborated in projects with the film industry, and has work in private collection in Toronto. Working from his studio in the same city, Kennington is working toward future endeavors in the arts, with a focus on developing a design language defined by dreams and deconstruction.

Kennington is currently enrolled in a Bachelors of Fine Arts (Drawing and Painting) with OCAD University: he is expected to graduate in 2025.
